Our integrated model for education, care, and wellbeing
CARES360® is the integrated operating framework that underpins everything we do at Hatfield Wick Education.
It brings together education, therapeutic thinking, relationships, environment, and systems into a single, coherent model designed to remove barriers to learning and support long‑term progress.
CARES360 is not a programme, intervention, or add‑on. It is how the school functions day to day.
Many children struggle in school not because they lack ability, but because mainstream environments simply aren't built around how they experience the world. When they feel overwhelmed, unsettled, or unsafe, it becomes hard to engage with learning at all, however capable they are underneath it.
In traditional models, too often:
Learning is prioritised before regulation
Behaviour is managed rather than understood
Therapy sits alongside education, rather than shaping it
CARES360 was developed to close these gaps. It's built on the understanding that a child's ability to learn is directly tied to how safe, settled and supported they feel. That emotional safety isn't separate from academic progress, but the foundation it depends on.
Before a student can meaningfully engage with a lesson, they first need to feel regulated in their emotions, connected to the adults around them and genuinely understood as an individual. Only once those foundations are in place can real learning, confidence, and progress begin to take hold.
CARES360 is grounded in five core values that guide behaviour, decision‑making, and relationships across the school: Compassion, Autonomy, Respect, Empathy, and Support.
These values are visible in daily practice, expectations, and interactions.
The “360” reflects a whole‑system view of education. CARES360 integrates:
Education
Therapeutic thinking
Relationships
Environment
Routines and systems
Family partnership
Each element reinforces the others.
Regulate → Relate → Reason
CARES360 follows a clear sequence:
Regulate – calm, safety, readiness
Relate – trust and connection
Reason – learning and reflection
This sequence shapes the school day, classroom practice, behaviour support, and curriculum delivery.
For students: safety, consistency, and reassurance that it is safe to try again after previous experiences of difficulty or failure.
For families: partnership, clarity, trust, and a shared understanding of how learning and wellbeing are supported together.
For professionals: a clear, accountable, inspection‑ready operating model that supports consistent, high‑quality provision.
CARES360 is not branding. It is not a slogan. It is a structured framework that is consistently applied and thoughtfully adapted to individual need.
